Is A Tattoo For
You
It seems
like just about everyone wants to get a tattoo these
days. Tattoos are artistic, expressive, unique and are
just plain cool. What used to be a symbol of “bad
assness” is now considered just another fashion symbol,
an item you wear on your body. But, is a tattoo for
you?
What Is a
Tattoo?
Technically,
a tattoo is ink that’s released beneath the skin.
However, for most people getting a tattoo is an artistic
expression of themselves.
It’s the
process of carefully finding a part of themselves they
want to proudly exhibit to the world. For some, it’s a
message of love and peace. For others, it’s fires and
skulls. For some it’s brotherhood, for others it’s
solitude.
The tattoo
you choose is very individualized and truly tailors to
who you are. There’s a degree of commitment and
permanence to getting a tattoo, since it’s generally
there to stay forever. In a way the message is “this is
who I am at the core.”
How Does
Getting a Tattoo Work?
The first
step is to find a great tattoo design. People used to go
in to tattoo parlors and flip through giant books of
designs; but now it’s much more effective and
personalized to find a design you like online.
Alternatively, you can also design your own
tattoo.
Once you
have your design, the next step is to find a good tattoo
artist. A good tattoo artist will not only be very
diligent with crafting the tattoo on your body, but
they’ll also observe safety precautions very
closely.
What does
the procedure look like?
First, the
artist will clean his/her hands with germ killing soap.
Then they’ll done a pair of clean latex gloves and insert
a one-time use only needle into the tattoo machine. Then
they’ll disinfect the area where you’ll be getting the
tattoo and begin the procedure.
An outline
is drawn first under the skin. Then the tattoo is shaded
and finally colored. After the procedure, the newly
tattooed area will be carefully cleaned.

What to Do
If You’re Thinking of Getting a Tattoo
First,
carefully examine why you want to get a tattoo and what
you want to express. Allow your subconscious to think
about it for some time. Don’t rush into getting a tattoo,
no matter how exciting it may seem.
Once you
know what you want to express to the world, then go
online and look through tattoo designs. Allow the designs
to sink in and just spend some time browsing tattoo sites
for a few days. You shouldn’t get a tattoo until you find
a design that really calls to you.
Once you
find the design you like, allow it to sit on your mind
for a few days before deciding that this is the one you
want to go with. Remember, once you get the tattoo it’s
there for good.
